We hope that you will find your way around easily and are able to find the information you want quickly and effectively. Keyboard Navigation
All pages on this site should use structured semantic markup. H1 tags should be used for the site title, H2 tags for page titles etc. For example, on this page, JAWS users can skip to the next section on this page by pressing ALT+INSERT+3. Opera users can skip sections by using S and W to cycle forwards and backwards respectively through headings.
The TAB key can also be used to move from link to link on both the site menu and within individual pages. Once a link has been highlighted, use the ENTER key to activate the link.
Structure
Web pages on this site should include 4 different areas:
- A header bar
- A side bar that includes the main site navigation
- A main content area,
- A footer.
When CSS (Cascading Styles Sheet) are not applied to a document (or when using a screen reader), these four areas should rendered in the above order.
Access Keys
Pre-defined access (shortcut) keys often clash with keys set aside for use with other software - including software that allows users with particular needs to browse the Web. This site does not define access keys so that any potential clashes with other software are avoided.
Standards Compliance
This site conforms to W3C XHTML1.0 and CSS1 / CSS 2 guidelines and has attained Level Double-A Conformance in accordance with the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines 1.0.
This site has been designed to uphold the principles of UK Disability Discrimination Act 1995.
