All areas of Family Law relating to Children EXPERIENCE Paul has earned a reputation for detailed analysis and perceptive management of his cases. His practice is predominantly in Public Law Children Act work. He is generally instructed in cases involving allegations of non-accidental injury or otherwise requiring consideration of complex legal issues or analysis of disputed factual and/or expert evidence. Extensive private law experience includes cases involving allegations of serious domestic violence, r 9.5 guardians, and permanent removal from the jurisdiction. Paul has been described as ‘having a very good bedside manner’ and is well-known for his ability to deal sensitively with lay clients from a variety of backgrounds and with disabilities. He has experience of acting for children both through the children’s guardian and on direct instruction. He is regarded as being straight-talking and compassionate. Those who know Paul well tease him for his ever-present lap-top, but they appreciate the advantages of his use of information technology, portable printing and mobile internet access.
In 2010 Paul was appointed by the General Medical Council as a (part-time) legal assessor. PROFESSIONAL MEMBERSHIPS Paul is a member of the Family Bar Association and sits on the executive committee of Child Concern. He is also a Fellow of the Royal Statistical Society. He is regular contributor to the Young Street Chambers’ seminar series. |
