The majority of work is undertaken in the field of clinical negligence but with a substantial amount of personal injury. Solicitor's negligence work is undertaken particularly in cases arising in relation to clinical negligence or personal injury actions.

Well-established practice in high value cases. Instructions are regularly received from solicitors throughout the North and Midlands.
Reported cases include the seminal decision in Naylor v Preston Health Authority [1987] and the important limitation decision in Forbes v Wandsworth Health Authority [1997]. Sutcliffe v Countess of Chester NHS Trust [2002] was the first reported decision of the High Court relating to disputed Erb's Palsy causation by traction. Recent unreported substantial cases have included several cerebral palsy cases with awards in the region of £5 million.
Part-time legal chairman of the Family Health Services Appeal Authority since that body's inception.
He is the co-author of a chapter dealing with expert evidence for a forthcoming Jordans/APIL looseleaf publication Personal Injury: Law, Practice and Precedents.
Executive Committee Member of the Association of Personal Injury Lawyers and formerly North West Regional Co-ordinator. Initial chairman/organiser of annual APIL clinical negligence conference. Founder member of Northern Circuit Medical Law Association. Member of Professional Negligence Bar Association and Personal Injury Bar Association.
Interests outside the law include wine, rugby and choral singing.
