- Lukhvinder Kaur is a member of the Family Team. She specialises in all aspects of Family law, including:
- Ancillary Relief and all other financial applications relating to the breakdown of marriage;
- Schedule 1 (to the Children Act 1989) applications for financial provision for children;
- Public law Children Act 1989 proceedings for Local Authorities, lay parties, children and Guardians;
- Private law Children Act 1989 proceedings;
- Family Law Act 1996 applications; and
- Disputes between co-habitees.
- Experience:
- Prior to accepting an invitation to join Young Street Chambers, Lukhvinder practised at Trinity Chambers in Essex, where she enjoyed a very successful Family law practice.
Her experience covers litigation relating to financial matters, including all ancillary relief hearings (FDA through to Final Hearing, and appeal if necessary), maintenance pending suit applications, Section 37 injunctions, variation and enforcement of financial orders and pension-sharing orders.
Her experience in public law Children Act proceedings encompasses all Care Protocol hearings and she has represented and advised parents in cases involving issues of physical and sexual abuse and neglect. Lukhvinder's experience in private law Children Act proceedings includes mediation, directions appointments, and final hearings in residence and contact applications, as well as more complex issues such as contact with children resident outside of the jurisdiction and intractable contact disputes.
Lukhvinder has regularly appeared in the Family Proceedings Court, County Court and High Court. Her friendly yet professional and confident manner helps put anxious clients at ease. Lukhvinder is thorough and meticulous in her legal research and prides herself in finding an answer to the most complex of legal problems.
Lukhvinder is a member of the FLBA and speaks fluent Punjabi.
