Our civil law practitioners have a collective experience in most common law areas and a range of experience from newly qualified to thirty years call.The majority of members undertake personal injury work. Historically Young Street Chambers undertook mainly claimant work, but several members now undertake significant amounts of defence work as well. We have expertise and experience for every type of case, ranging from those heard in the small claims court to those of the utmost gravity, often involving brain and spinal injury.

All work is dealt with promptly. For most work a return of papers within 21 days is the maximum.
Several members undertake notable clinical negligence work including a significant number of cerebral palsy cases.
Costs work has traditionally had few specialists at the Bar but we are pleased to have several members who have considerable expertise and experience in this area. Assistance can be given in both contentious and non-contentious work. Members deal with all aspects of costs litigation for receiving and paying parties from preparing Points of Dispute, attending detailed assessments at both District Judge level and at the SCCO, to handling costs appeals at all levels.
Individual members also undertake various other types of work including professional negligence, contractual disputes, employment law, bankruptcy and immigration. The individual areas of practice may be more fully appreciated from the individual profiles of each barrister.
