Young Street Chambers have recently reviewed their environmental policy. We are also forever mindful of our committments to deliver complete and unquestionable confidentiality at all times for our clients. With these things in mind we have switched to on-site shredding, delivering the ultimate in document security as well as reducing our contribution to landfill significantly. All our paper and cardboard is collected and shredded on site every week - that’s everthing from the boxes our sandwiches came in, to the confidential papers relating to a VHCC case!
Previously our paper was shredded in the office or collected by secure vehicle for off-site destruction - which is still the case for videos and audio materials. This new process allows us to be greener and safer - 95% of our waste (by weight) is shredded on site, with only 5% going to landfill. No paper leaves the site without being shredded first.
